We the People

Monday, October 17th, 2016
The Florida Theatre, 10:00 am & 11:55 am
128 E Forsyth St, Jacksonville, FL 32202

We the People is a musical revue that brings American Civics lessons to life and promises to make Social Studies exciting and accessible.  Students will have a blast learning about the three branches of government, the First Amendment, presidential elections, democracy, the judicial process, and more. Barreling through a variety of musical styles relevant to today's youth, including rock, rhythm-and-blues, and hip-hop, We the People will instill American pride in audiences of all ages, and perhaps even inspire them to get involved and make a difference.

NOTE: Theatreworks holds a Mock Election for President using the current candidates in the race for President of the United States.  Each attending school is assigned a state based on size, and are sent ballots for the students to place their vote.  The votes are handed in at the show, are tabulated after the show, and whichever candidate wins the vote in each school collects all the electoral votes for that state.   After the show we send a pdf to each attending school showing the results of every state and who won the election.  We have held this mock election for the last three elections and have had a great time teaching the students how the President of the United States is chosen by the states.
